SHARING AMERICA'S TECH NEWS FROM THE VALLEY TO THE ALLEY

Samuel L. Jackson followed through with his promise on Friday, after asking Reddit users to submit a 300-word monologue for him to read out loud.
But not without punking the Internet in the process. Here’s the beginning of his much-anticipated monologue:
Hi, I’m Samuel L. Jackson. I’m sorry to disappoint you, Reddit, but I’ve decided to break the rules of my own competition, and I will not be reading a user-submitted entry as my monologue. Instead, I’d like to speak to you all from my own heart, in my own words; honestly and openly. I’ve been waiting to reveal something for a long, long, time and… well, here it is: I am quitting acting and pursuing a life of vigilantism.
At first watch, this video might come as a shock to fans — but Jackson actually did not break the rules. The 300-word monologue was indeed written by a very clever Reddit user named adiddy.
The contest was part of a campaign to support the nonprofit Alzheimer’s Association. Jackson says he has family members affected by the disease, including his mother, who recently passed away. Jackson asked users to donate to his page on Prizeo, which has already raised more than $135,000 to date.
The Reddit thread generated more than 2 million views, with users spending an average of almost three minutes on the page. Many contest submissions came from 4chan users, who attempted to troll the contest with inappropriate content.
According to Prizeo cofounder Leo Seigal, many participants in the contest are unhappy with the results — but because they think Jackson broke the rules and quit acting. Seigal says that Jackson, on the other hand, loved the entire experience.
Hope you enjoyed this!
