SHARING AMERICA'S TECH NEWS FROM THE VALLEY TO THE ALLEY

One does not need to have a smartphone to be socially active. All they need is Facebook for Every Phone application downloaded in their mobile phones. Social networking behemoth Facebook in its blog post shared its excitement that more than 100 million people use this app every month.
With a view to connecting the world, Facebook for Every Phone was launched to allow people who use the “dumbphones” (a basic cell phone that lacks the advanced functionality characteristic of a smartphone) to access Facebook. The app works on more than 3000 types of phones, giving a smartphone-app feel. The app contains most of the popular features of Facebook, like news feed, messenger, photos.
The mobile platform Snaptu which was acquired by Facebook in 2011 powers the technology for this application. Snaptu’s platform uses the power of servers to accelerate and optimize the way mobile apps work, that enables the user to get a complete experience on the low-end models. Facebook For Every Phone has traveled to millions of people’s mobile phones in these two years, giving them the joy of connecting and sharing with limited Internet access.
The firm also has partnered with mobile operators around the world to offer free or discounted data access to Facebook For Every Phone.
