SHARING AMERICA'S TECH NEWS FROM THE VALLEY TO THE ALLEY
News out of Korea suggests Samsung will launch its widely publicized 12-inch tablet with a hi-res display in October.
Citing unnamed industry sources, The Korean Economic Daily reports that the tablet will use a “higher than Full HD resolution” display from Samsung Display and claims that the model will be launched sometime in October.
Digitimes last week reported that both Samsung and Apple are working on bigger tablets, but revealed that Apple is likely to be less proactive in this space for fear of cannibalizing its 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch MacBook Airs. The Wall Street Journal has previously claimed that Apple is testing a 12.9-inch iPad — which has been dubbed the “iPad Maxi” in some quarters.
There hasn’t been much in the ways of specs for Samsung’s gigantic tablet, although older rumors suggest that the model will have the same resolution screen as the Google Nexus 10 and an ARM 11 processor. There has also been talk that the model could debut at the IFA tech exhibition in Germany early next month.
